Barb Caffrey is a writer, editor, musician and composer from the Midwestern portion of the United States of America. Along with her late husband, Michael B. Caffrey, her work has appeared in the BEDLAM'S EDGE anthology, at the Written Word online magazine, and through e-Quill Publishing.
Her solo story "The Fair at South Farallon" debuted at e-Quill Publishing in 2010, while her poetry has appeared in the DUE NORTH anthology, at the Midwest Literary Magazine, at Joyful! Online, and at the Written Word. A nonfiction piece, "On Collaboration," was published by Vision magazine in 2004. She has edited for Masterpiece Comics and for the Written Word online magazine (subsequent to publication).
She reviews books for Shiny Book Review (www.wordpress.shinybookreview.com) and for Amazon.com through their Amazon Vine reviewers program, and blogs about various ad sundry topics at www.wordpress.elfyverse.com.
Caffrey holds a Master's in Music from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Bachelor's from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, plays three instruments (saxophone, oboe, and clarinet), and composes music. She's also worked for several newspapers as an opinion columnist and arts and entertainment reporter.
Michael completed two novels in his lifetime; both are being revised currently by Barb based off Michael's notes. Further, Barb (with Michael's able assistance) has completed one novel, ELFY, which is looking for an agent and/or book publisher. Four novels are currently in progress (in addition to Michael's two) at this time; they tend to multiply when Mrs. Caffrey isn't looking.
Barb has vowed that, as part of her life's work, she will find a way to get all of Michael's writing into print as well as her own. The stories appearing at e-Quill Publishing -- those which have been previously published, and those new to publication (the "Columba" stories) -- are part of that endeavor.
